Hungarian linguist and Turkologist Gyula Németh identified the word “turk” as plural, he says the letter “k” bears the collective and plural meaning.

We still use the k plural suffix in several cities in Turkey. For example in Elazýð dialect people say:
"gelik" in stead of "geliyoruz" ; (We are coming)
or "Biz Türkük" instead of "Biz Türküz" ; (We are Turk)

True, both -s/-sh, -z (Oghuric -r), -n and -t were plural suffixes alongside -lar/-lär in Old Turkic.
