Depends on the success of the first film, which isnt very good: Budget - $20,000,000 Gross revenue - $26,047,862
Now compare this to Avatar... Budget - $237,000,000 Gross revenue (so far) - $1,917,419,460!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously we're going to have an Avatar 2

The Mongol movie of Bodrov is a trilogy, but I don't know if the second movie is in production or not.

A lot of you have pointed technical flaws in either the weapons, costumes or the way the actors look which I cannot figure. But for an outsider, the movie was overall informative and entertaining for most part.
The movie ends in a disappointing manner because the essence of the story is meant to be how Temujin rallies the various Mongol tribes into an unstoppable force. I m not sure it has been shown in the movie. If i remember correctly, suddenly Temujin escapes from the Tanguts, prays to Tengrii and lo! he's got an army!
I loved how the battle scene shaped up especially those suicidal horsemen who drive through with two swords each .. but it ends with some random thunder scaring the crap outof the opponents.
I d still watch the second part if i can find it ..

I was extremely disappointed with the way Tanguts were depicted in the movie "Mongol" it's, actually, one of my major dissapointments regarding this movie. why do you think so, was it not historically accurate ? that is the usual case with movies though. But they did in fact imprison Temujin right ? Because "Tanguts" in the movie, dressed like Chinese, used Chinese coins and even spoke in perfect Mandarin with Beijing accent. :-) Of course, Tangut language is extinct now. But they were very distinct and interesting people. And their language was related to modern Tibetian. So, Bodrov could figure something out isntead ot replacing them with funny Chinese guys. And, no, they are no any sources which say that they ever had impirsoned Tamujin. It's a theory invented by the Russian historian Lev Gumilev, based on the fact, as he discovered, that there was a gap in Temujin biography. So, Gumilev "assumed" that during that time he was a slave in Tangut state (Xi Xia). Gumilev wrote that that explains the unusual cruelty with which Temujin treated Tanguts since they literally were wiped out of the of the face of earth by the Mongols in the last Temujin's military expedition.

So the story of the Chengiz Khan destroying everything except that one monastery is also not true huh ? Did he not die before the Mongols finally defeated those people ?

Yes, he died before the complete extermination of Tanguts. And yes, I think the monastery is the fantazy of the director. :-)
