i've watched the movie and even if i didn't udnerstood a word it was a great movie! the battle scenes are really cool, especially those of Mansur in the Oirat camp when all the guards shoot arrows at him and he does horse tricks to avoid them! I also liked the performance of Jason Scott Lee and i personally didn't think Kuno Becker did a bad job as Mansur. |

i'm mostly confused by that Red Flag....  I hope to see a release in Germany soon, i will definately watch it in cinema again, I hope the new version is not much different from the original. |

I found this comment for the movie on IMBd - imdb.com/title/tt0374089/#commentThe movie is HORRIBLE. First of all, the shooting of this movie was accompanied by a series of scandals -- originally about $40 million budget had been allotted for it, but the major part of this sum was embezzled by Kazakh directors and shooting crew -- unfortunately, this is very typical for Kazakh mentality Kazakh government had to beg Russian film directors to save this movie project, because it was evident, that Hollywood stars were unable to achieve the needed result and to stop money embezzlement by Kazakhs. As for the movie itself -- it's a miserable B-movie with numerous historical and factual goofs, misinterpretation of Kazakh history and plot flaws. Creators of this film obviously did not read history books, their depiction of Kazakh traditions is RIDICULOUS! Really, I am ashamed to be a Kazakh after watching this movie. |

The last movie about Central Asian warriors with a non-Altaic protagonist was Attila, and it was GARBAGE!  I don't understand how some people can say it is racist to suggest that the historical character portrayed in a movie be played by someone who resembled him. It is not racist, it is correct. Imagine if a movie about Japanese people were played by black people. Or a movie about Napolean was played by brown people. Or a movie about the American revolutionary war played by yellow people. It is just stupid, cheap, absurd, lame, bootleg, and any other degrading term for such a lack of historical accuracy. The last movies about Genghis Khan used John Wayne and some Semitic guy, and both movies SUCKED hardcore, especially the one with John Wayne. An earlier film from the early 1990's used some white guy from Alabama as Genghis Khan but it got scrapped up, for good reason too, because it was going to BOMB. Race does not matter, I agree. But appearance does matter, and using someone who isn't even remotely Asiatic looking for Central Asian heroes is not just retarded, but historically inaccurate and misleading. |

I saw this movie 2 months before. It,s very perfect, even though I know nothing about Russian language. This movie mainly talk about Kazak fought against Junggar Mongol tribe.
Junggar Mongol was located in Xingjiang(eastern Turkistan). This tribe invaded Kazakstan, and raided Mongolia around 16th century. Finally Junggar Mongol tribe was defeated by Manchu (Qing Empire). The defeat was a total destruction. Qian long Emperor lead an army consisted of Manchu eight banners, Mongol troops, and Chinese soldier(Xiang jun) made a brutal genocide on this tribe( nearly 200,000 Junggar was butchered except for an new born infant.
The vanguard of massacre are Manchu 8 banners. Under the help of Mongol and Chinese soldiers, few Junggar mongols fled to Mongolia or covered themselves among Chinese.
