All the Kalmyks I know are outraged about the movie. So, you might better avoid watching it. The best reaction I heard from Kalmyks is "Kazakh science fiction." ;D But I personally think the movie was good . Though historical accuracy is somewhere on the level of "Mongol." If you, however, don't want to follow my advice, you can watch this movie online here (in Russian) you'll need just to register on this site, but you don't have to pay anything it's free. www.memocast.com/advsearch.aspx?title=%D0%BA%D0%BE%D1%87%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA&x=39&y=11 Darn it! Hell I should direct an Dzungar movie!!! Shut everyone up lol ;D Cheers for the link though

Haha fine fine
Btw speaking of Nomad, that is an awesome song on your signature! Up the irons! Heh, overkilled it listening to it though myself
I really liked this part: "Undercover of the veil of your disguise The men that fear you are the ones that you despise No one's certain what you future will behold You're a legend you own story will be told"

The battle scenes are nice ;D ;D I actually think battle scenes there are rather strange. Kazakhs instead of fighting in the steppe like the real Nomades for some reasons are hinding behind the walls. The warfare in the movie was not really "nomadic" There was a really awesome Kazakh movie about the war with Jungars made in the Soviet times. The war scenes there were really cool. Massive cavalry attacks against Jungar "head of the dragon" formation. I still remember watching is as a child. It would be great to get it somewhere...

Yeah, Oirats looked much more brutally Nomadic, besides Dakaskos as a Jungar Batyr IMO, looked much more authentic than the Mexican guys. ;D I also would very much like to find the old Kazakh movie and watch it again. But I'm really not sure about the name My internet searches suggest, that that movie might be "Gontsy speshat" (Russian) "The Messangers are rushing" 1980, but I'm really not sure. Also "Kazakhfilm" in cooperation with Egypt made a great movie about Beibars in 1989, there were a lot of battle scenes and fighting with Crusaders and Mongols. Somebody uploaded a very short piece of the movie on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILuv8RCgezc

Wow this is so cool !!!! Thank you so much for pointing me at this! Too bad, that the movie most likely doesn't have English subtitles so that you guys could enjoy it in its entirety.
