I've been going in circles whether or not to watch this movie - considering I am oirat myself I wonder if this movie is gonna leave me happy or pissed.
Hope they didn't demonise us too much :\

All the Kalmyks I know are outraged about the movie. So, you might better avoid watching it. The best reaction I heard from Kalmyks is "Kazakh science fiction." ;D But I personally think the movie was good  . Though historical accuracy is somewhere on the level of "Mongol." Well the film was shoot and corrected so it will fit the goverment policies. I don't know what was done so far but we spend hell of a lot money to shoot it. But the goverment head idologist and thinker personally was watching over the making of the film.

It seems that most of the money AFAIK disappeared in unknown direction and all the shooting process was also not organized very bad. They changed 3 directors. Luckily, Bodrov was somehow able to clear up all the mess...
