Svastika means literally "well-being" in Sanskrit (su-asti-ka). The Islamic art usually applies abstract patterns because of the taboo on images. They are very similar to the Steppe art and some of them have probably originated from it (see f.e. Titus Burckhardt, "Sacred Art in East and West", ch. 4, IV). That's because God have shown the people ayets (which literally means signs) to make them understand according to Islam. I wonder if some of those words are related to Turkic. Can't tell in that form. Here are some similar words. cogprints.org/5452/1/SC-Cog.pdf

This is the mausoleum of Ahmet Yesevi. Ok I understand that this is not a place of worship? Mosque? -somehow you have 2 gates to god`s temple. even backdoor? ;D Here in Mongolia swastika is called "Tengeriin Tamga"=Seal of sky. (other names are Zee, Khas,...) I think you know why, on empty sky there are swastika shaped galaxies. Or swastika shaped galaxies are seal of sky. Clock wise swastika or movement is called Male. Anti clock wise movement is called Female. West is for men, East is for women. So this building has right position for swastikas. But these swastikas don`t have main/centre source like sun. Inside Yurts we have fire place and this bright spot is main source. The question is If there is no middle point or Sun what is keeping 4 parts together? Religions say : God is Everywhere! Tengrists say : Sky is everywhere Simply : Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism...etc all must be the creation of Sky father. But there are things that Tengrists don`t share with others : Supreme gods don`t need temples. Mother earth is one big temple. -Maybe nomads are lazy to build something. ;D

Yes, it's Infinity. Circle with center everywhere and circumference nowhere. Sky is like horizon - wherever you go, you are always in the center. And this is true for everyone simultaneously. That's why there is no universal perspective, nor absolute (or truth, or god, or "center") valid for everyone. The actual infinity is exhaustible.
Tengri (Sky) is not like some personal deity. It's like a screen for Infinity (the "Eternal Sky", Mengü Tengri). The four tamghas with their respective phonemes and forms represent the four elements, four points of compass and four rays of the cross (or the swastika). The bends of the swastika show the circular motion of the Sky or the life force energy (orgon as Wilhelm Reich called it - this is hiimori, attil, od etc.) created by rotation of the celestial bodies surrounding Earth and the planet itself. It is perceived as blue (like in these pictures of the galaxies) whence the "Blue Sky" or Kök Tengri.

Bor Chono do you know how to merge Tengriism with Churchie beliefs without losing yourself? How to end the intolerance Churchies have against all "heathen" "demon worshippers" etc etc...
I have my reasons why I have to ask this right now, or is co-existing really an impossibility?

I have my reasons why I have to ask this right now, or is co-existing really an impossibility? It seems the Yakuts (Sakha) try to work out something like that: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaGcEZIxsjk&feature=player_embeddedIf you read Russian I can send you a book about that or you can download it from here: tengry.org/site/books/I myself don't like this interpretation of Tengrism (perhaps because of my personal distaste for Abrahamitic religions and Christianity in particular) but I don't mind it as far as they are happy with it and don't insist that their is the "one and only" way.

Thanks so much for the links, I can take it from here - I hope. What I'm looking for specifically is some scripture or some book that I can present to the missus' pastor - looks like this is something at least. Whether it will help or not, I don't know, but I'm out of options.
I personally don't like the idea of merging beliefs myself, I'm just looking for a way to get them to stop harassing the missus and I due to my beliefs. As of this moment they are poking their noses where they don't belong and causing a lot of problems at home. My anger in this case can only lead to something worse, have to bite my tongue. The intolerance is always one-sided, and if I am intolerant against Christianity I'm intolerant against their INTOLERANCE. I support the missus' faith as it's her own spiritual journey but it seems whenever she settles into a church she ends up getting brainwashed against me.
This happened before, years ago before marriage. Sorry, but this is driving me insane, been storming out of the house last few nights for long drives lest I lose it. It's so frustrating! So much for them preaching about the "family unit" while they are rocking our boat.

I need scriptures, stuff in 'their' language, everything else is too 'worldly' for them to understand. The e-books I just downloaded doesn't seem to be what I need even, argh! This current issue... could perhaps be the beginning of the end... EDIT: Actually, thank you SO MUCH! I'm going to use this: www.religioustolerance.org/tol_bibl.htmLet's see what happens, oh hell I shouldn't have to put up with this!!!!!

Maybe this also can be helpful despite some bizarre notions of the author: www.adji.ru/book10_3.htmlwww.adji.ru/book10_5.htmlI am sorry to hear about your problems. I have had disputes with such kind of folks myself and my sad experience is that they usually are not willing to listen to anything from outside their own sect - not only from other religions but also from other versions of Christianity itself. I hope still this will help.
