Wich enemy was the most hardest to defeat or put up a good fight. From wich enemy we learned a lot.
Or wich one is your favourite enemy. Wich one is the everlasting one.
Well from Mongols the awnser is easy The Chinese it has been like that since the Huns and is still going on today.
But what about those who migrated over the years and countered new enemies in new locations.
So who has your vote? and why?
EDIT: EMEMIES WHO ARE NOT US ;D

Apart from ourselves, it's the Chinese I think, taking into consideration the time spawn. But the Russians were the most effective I guess.

I agree, we're our greatest enemy. But other than us, for all Turks in general, I think our greatest enemy is Russia. I'd say China since we've been fighting them basically since the beginning of time but the Russians have done more harm to more Turks than the Chinese have.

The greatest enemy of the Ottomans during the Golden age was the Habsburgs, but from 1700s onwards without doubt it was the Russian Imperial Empire. The newly established Turkish Republic pursued a policy of neutrality thanks to Ataturk, so it did not have enemies. Witht he conclusion of the Second World War, due to tremendous of self-confidence after the victory, Stalin tuned hostiel towards Turkey, so our greatest enemy again become the Russian ruled- The USSR.
In the contemporary period, the greatest army of Turkey has become PKK and countries taht sponsoured it: Syria and Grecee.
Due to mispresentation fo history, without doubt the Armenians will also feel hostile towards us.

i think komunizm is one of our strongest enemy. Don't be so ridiculous, we human beings are self-seeking, egoistical creatures. We only unite and show a high level of solidary when there is a common enemy. Therefore we do not deserve that philosophy, hence communism is by no means a threat. Even PKK in the 90s changed its so-called program of Marxis-Lenist to nationalist rhetoric. Added to that, China, which is communist on paper, splitted economics from politics long time ago in 1978 when Deng was in power

The greatest enemy of Turkey was the United States of America starting from the 1960s, when Turkey started showing it's power at the Cyprus Issue. It was the Cyprus Problem which made the USA and Western European countries to start weakening Turkey from both inside and outside. The leftist-rightist fights between 1968-1980, Armenian terror, economic embargoes of the mid-1970s, the military coup of 1980, Kurdish separatism and the rise of political Islam were all backed by the "Western" powers.

Our biggest and most respected enemy is us! Their is no such enemy in the world who could harm the united nation that achived the harmony and unity within itself rather than the nation itself. ("If you could wait long enough and look in to the flow of the river, you may notice the dead body of your enemy passing by." Chineese philosophy) Fear is also the distructive force.

I think China will grow much stronger than Russia in the next twenty years. Because of the national security and oil resource, I foresee a lot of tensions between China and pan-turkists, islamists, and turkism nationalists. But, personally, I don't see any fundmental conflict between China and steppe nations. I see more reasons to coorporate.
