Makes you wonder what it would take to re-educate the general public about the real significance of the swastika. "re-educate" sounds a lot like crack-pot sect....

From the last two posts, I see (1) a negative attitude, and (2) a defeatist attitude. Neither was used by great men, and neither will lead to a man's understanding of his own situation. There are no lols or smily faces applicable here, just a sadness. It's thought bashing on a degrading personal level. And none of it has to do with swastikas.

In the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara, there are some Hatti artifacts (pre-Hittite, which is pre-IE) with swastikas. Guess it was a universal symbol throughout the world and it's very easy to understand why it is so, because it's a sun symbol

Yes, yes! It's pre-IE. More like proto-something-or-rather. The symbol must have been kicking around since the neolithic, and somehow it spread world-wide (except for maybe Tasmania). Beyond a sun-symbol, the swastika has a spinning cosmos meaning, yet both would be viewed as non-ending "eternity." The strange thing is that the original direction of the symbol rotates counter-clockwise, as does the Milky Way and our own earth. (How did they know?) I think the clockwise version seen on Buddhist statues is newer. The ancient statues show it correctly and also have Buddha standing as a thinner man.

Depictions of Buddha in art has gone through various stages of regional fashion. The Buddha tried everything on the path to Enlightenment including living as an ascetic and as a glutton. So both depictions (an ascetic vs. a glutton) are correct.

And and in no manner-- in any statement made by me-- can anyone find such an attitude. I think positively, knowing that it has a benefit, both socially and for personal well-being. In contrast, I see exactly the opposite attitude-- negative and not well-thought-out-- within this forum's treads and posts. Read my words, read my lips, and learn to understand the meaning of a statement. Don't read what was not said.

Hey, just saw this: Interior of the kümbet (conical tomb) of Sahip Ata (Sāhib Ata) in Konya built in 1283. Notice the Buddhist-style swastika.

Tsk tsk... these guys: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjYTwY2g20AO.O! xD! I love the West's media going on about the "swastikas". Slapped one on my car... before it got removed by wifey -.- *sighs* she NEVER understands my sense of humor! Bah! She doesnt want me getting into more trouble with the law then I already have with my crim record lol. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Too much Buddhist influence though btw perhaps, Tumen Nasan Khee to Dayar Mongol -> "peace, firm, forever and long life." But yet it does seem far older then Buddhism itself. Native Americans used it even. 10000 yrs... Monkh - Eternal. Four horsemen as Bor Chono mentioned, or perhaps even four seasons - ever eternal. Or even both. Who knows? Oh btw: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Uaml0iEmwCLICK! hehehehe >xD --- edited---
