Hi Everybody! It's great honor to join this forum and meet so many peoples fascinated in Nomadic Culture! I'm the person from those photos pasted by Kilij Arslan (On the one of my pictures is not a cellphone This is tuner for my instruments). I'm the member of Polish historical reenactment project Altan Orda Jin Ulus and I'am interested in Music of Grand Steppe, Mongol culture and language and i try to reconstruct Cuman/Polovets/Kipchaks high class warrior inventory. Our group is trying to reconstruct the clothes, inventory and weapons of medieval XII/XIIIc steppe peoples (Kipchaks, Mongols, Seljuks, Kara Kalpaks). Our group exists for two years and we are trying to present for modern people the main aspect of polish/mongol/tatar historical contacts and nomadic way life. Please enjoy our site- there is a lot of informations and our interpretations of archeological artefacts The instruments on my photos are: tuvan Igil and Chanzy, Kazakh-Dombra and khomus from altai. HERE You can find some pictures about Polovets/Kipchaks/KaraKalpaks Once again nice to be here! Thanks Arslan!

Very good jobs guys,Welcome aboard from me too ! I didn´t knew the Polish people had some relationship with the Mongol and Altaic peoples.I always though they are descendants of the Slavic peoples. The Veneti ( Western Slavs ).Very good representation of the Cuman hats,Look exactly the same. And about the Seljuks.Yes they were heavily armoured. They started penetrating the Vyzantine empire and they actually ignitioned the conquest in Europe which the Ottoman turks after them would carry on further.

Oh yes, Asparuh. Subatai sent Mongol forces north into Poland to subdue them from helping Hungary. There's also various Turkic groups who spread into the area too.

An important number of Qïpčaq-Tatar mercenaries and their families from the Golden Horde were settled in Poland and Lithuania (also some even in Finland).

That's right. In general there was three Mongol invasions of Poland- 1241, 1259, 1287. In The Cronicae et gesta ducum sive principum Polonorum (XIIc) we can find informations that Polovtsy invaded Poland too. Thank You all for Your kind. HERE You can find some interesting articles about our reconstruction and more others that we wrote:) Enjoy! (You can use google translator- it works )

Thought the source sounded familiar... It was published by Central European University Press. While checking CEU's website, I found they've finally published Anonymus' Gesta Hungarorum just last year. Yay, Xmas present! www.ceupress.com/subjects/MedievalHistory.html
