That's a lot of pictures here, well done. I'm going to have my work cut out cross referencing them. My interest with many of them is a connection through the Alani/Alans. There are quite a few stating they are Scythians with dates a bit late. I have also seen reasonable evidence to suggest the Kushans were Alani too, with it being noted how the Yuezhi became Alani, and it being the Asii in the eyes of the Greeks who had control of the same empire.

Uhm I'm a bit confused here, so the Greeks called the Yuezhi and the Kushans as Alans too?

Uhm I'm a bit confused here, so the Greeks called the Yuezhi and the Kushans as Alans too? Oh dear, I've just noticed that I've said the Yuezhi became the Alans, this was the Yen-ts’ai. However putting this aside for a minute, the Greeks did say the Asii had become the rulers of Bactria, when describing the Kushan Empire who had been the Yuezhi. Blame it on the excitement of finding out the descriptions of the Hun hierarchy being Europid and tall in the majority, by the Chinese, when I have suspected the Alans to have been with then from before their move west. And because of the way the Alans operated making connections and alliances to gain power within other groups. My judgement might have been slightly swayed too by finding this picture of a Yuezhi warrior, the picture is of a clay head of the warrior.

I personally think it is not so appropriate to reach sudden conclusions from physical outlook descriptions found in Chinese sources because the characteristics of the Chinese language makes such descriptions to be made possible to interprest in several different ways.

Well done Babur, for the pictures of the Cumans.Polovtsev in Russian is cumans i think. And the Pechenegs look good too.Good job.,Nice pictures. These Varaguians actually caused a lot of problems to the steppe countries, including to Bulgaria as well. The vyzantines hired them as mercenaries against us.A common practice in most of the empires.Somebody else do the dirty job for them.
