They have investments there, that's how they work.

Along with those "investments" are a sizable migrant workforce as well. Chinatowns in Africa.

Yea, funny, but on the other hand we're watching history in action when China sends a navy to Africa to deal with Somali pirates. It is also good for Chinese! If you have over 100 year of Peace the army becomes weak! Imagine a general who never been in a real battle! How can he be a general?(Strangely Mongolia have many young generals! ) Soldier who was in battle is a warrior! Soldier who marched & shoot-ed all day stays soldier! They are testing their men & weapon! I mean getting valuable experience! Every proud/military nation do it! You should not blame Mongols on helping USA in Iraq!

i've also seen part of a documentary about that. it seems Chinese and europeans are competing over exploiting Africa. one of the Germans interviewed literally said soemthign alogn the lines: "if you don't move into Africa now, they (chinese) will claim everything before us".

Indeed, it is the same with Old Turkic Čärig (Turkish Çeri) which is also Čerig or Čereg in Classical Mongolian.

It means both "Soldier" and "Army". I can it is the right exact equivalent of the Chinese word Bing 兵 which contains both meanings.

Much appreciate the replies. Have been listening to "yao to mao" these last few day's, interesting and filling a void at the same time. I have some rudimentary knowledge on the planet, so not totaly incompetent here.

Sherig-ool is a Tuvan name. This word was borrowed by the Magyar as sereg (shereg) where it means "troop". Hungarian has a native word for army.

I didn't know that. Seems like a widely-spread word. What's the original Hungarian word for "army"?
