I tried to search for some topic about this country, but I can not find any in this forum.
Maybe I use different spelling? Khakassia? Chakass? I don't know.
What is it about this country? Not very well known country in Russia Federation... It is just above TUVA. I don't know much about this country? Do some of you know something about this country? Any important historical situations?
I only know Khakassia because of their beauty in music. It's very small country with small population, but just like Tuva they have great passion for traditional music. In past few years I collected very much CD's from Khakassia!! I would like to share few songs with you.
Left man is Sergey Charkov, with his daughter. They play in one ensemble named 'Khyrkhaas'. They came to Holland few months ago for the first time, I was very happy to see them. They only speak Russia and Khakass .
Here his daughter plays 'Chatkhan', which is national instrument of Khakassia. Beautiful sound!! This instrument is similar of Yatga from Mongolia, or Zither in Europe. Interesting is how they use goat-bones (shagai bones) to tune the strings!
Just like Tuva/Altai/Mongolia, in Khakassia they have lively tradition of throat singing. Even women sing this. They call it 'Khay'.
Click for songs:
My Lute - Played by ensemble 'Sabjilar'
Light Water - Played by ensemble 'Khyrkhaas'
For My Friends - Played by ensemble 'Khyrkhaas'
Untitled - Played by ensemble '' I can not read this text on CD, it is in Khakas.
