just wait and watch that movie... yeah it appears this convo has come to a dead end on this particular point. As I said before... the film is on order and I'm happy to watch it... but then again it's a bit of a non sequiter to expect that by simply watching another director with a different story and a different aesthetic viewpoint somehow confirms your theory. I'd imagine they're relatively common.

I have seen both movies...I didn't feel it was putting down Mongolians...infact i was very happy that our way of life style was recorded naturally...especially if that way of life style disappears...I have showed the film to as many people as possible and hoping to screen it at university for the international film week...
Thats what Mongolia is about....free roaming nomads... : )

Last year I watched TV Drama about Genghis Khan which had nearly 66 episodes. It was broadcasted by TRT(Turkish State). I know that the drama was made by China's CN TV. Is there any link for watching or downloading this awesome drama.
I need help from my Khalka brothers(or Buryat doesn't matter ;D )

I have seen both movies...I didn't feel it was putting down Mongolians... at the end of the first movie, they were against buying a TV set, that totally put me off. afterall i didn't found it convincing, i mean i've seen modern Nomads in many documentaries and most of them have TV sets, Motorbikes and so on. the portrayal of Mongols in the movie was unrealistic. they should have set those movies some centuries in the past, that would have been better.

Tsogt Taij is a nice film made in 1945 in Ulaanbaatar. The script was written by the scholar Byambin Rinchen who was a direct descendant of Tsogt Taiji (on both mother and father's side). And Tsogt Taij was a direct descendant of Kublai Khan who was the grandson of Genghis. To see the movie: elgennutag.blog.banjig.net/post.php?post_id=121333(there r many other websites where u can c the movie)

Tsogt Taij is about mongolian Prince Tsogt who fought against the Manchus in the 1630s. This is a real movie!!! Tsogt Taij of Halha Mongols went to kick Tibetians. He was follower of Red Buddism (Hubilai Khaan`s introduced buddhism! saying this religion showed me it`s powers!). Tibetians had civil war & Red Buddism was defeated. Yellow Buddhism started to spread among nomads. Oirats, Manchu...etc joined first. Tsahar Mongols & Halha Mongols were controlled by Chinggis khaan`s descendants so they were still Red Buddhists. First time in Mongolian history ppl fighting for gods!(Not for land, not for gold but for belief! =strange!). Chinggis khaan`s "religious freedom" is long gone!. In the end Tsogt Taij of Halh Mongols is defeated. REAL HISTORICAL MOVIE! Look at armors & weapons! =real, not made for movie! but collected from ppl! One guy even have a mask!!! Ppl with 3 wing swastik on their shield are Halh Mongols. Ppl with dragon on their shield are Manchu. That`s why I`m carrying this shield : (3 river Mongols = Tuv Mongols = Centre Mongols) www.youtube.com/watch?v=DadTX2fSupg&feature=channel_page(Well...I joined the Dark side 99 Tengries VS 1 Zetiger ;D)

I guess foreigners like to make movie about common Mongols. Well...common Mongolians are bit rude & bit stupid. They look not clean but very healthy ppl. Ofcourse there are no nobles left who don`t trust ppl, don`t speak too much, cold ppl. Tradition was something wide spread thing... like main land! Presently tradition is family bussiness & it is like Islands. Sometimes I wonder why my family have "this/that" tradition & others don`t. ;D
