What did noamds do with their dead? Is open burial a Buddhist tradition? I know chieftans and khans were buried...but the common herder??? what happened to him??? Digging and burying seems like to much of an effort for the common folk...

Every people had it's own different type. Some buried their dead (the Asian Huns [Xiongnu], European Huns, Oghuz, Qypchaqs, Mongols, etc), some burned (Blue Turks [Gök Türks], Qyrghyz) and some left in the open (Gaoche, Tiele).

those who buried, does that also include commoners or just nobles (Kurgans)?

It also includes commoners, but they were probably too small so that no commoner tomb has been found until now, at least as far as I know.

My grandfather was left in open.(as he asked) -He asked him to leave in open that the messenger of Death Lord, ERLIG take him to sky. My mother`s side grandfather was buried.(he never spoke of death). Common Mongols didn`t buried their dead. Grave yards that surround UB is mostly because of Russian infuence.-I think.

Yeah, the main methods seem to have been burial, burning, or just leaving the body for animals, usually in a high, remote place. Some forest tribes would hang their dead in trees.

I think in some parts of Tibet they still do that. The bodies are smashed up and left out in the open for vultures.
