Yes,These names are Slavonic-adopted. They were used amongst the Serbians,Moravians,Russians,Bulgarians, etc. In Bulgarian history there were lots and lots of kings ruling, but i have put this collection here only with Kings and Khans which have photo. The other wikipedia passages doesn't contain photographs.

Hello,It is interesting to know that the city i come from Sliven has been habited by Tatars, and there are still some tatars living there and in the surrounding region. These Tatars were of Cuman origin. Some of them settled in Bulgaria after the returning of the army of Batu Khan from Hungary in 13 century. After during the Ottoman ocupation Crimean Tatars also settled in the region.Maybe that´s why i feel so Tatar sometimes ;D.

I have read many times the biography of Khan Kubrat and it´s interesting to know, that he pushed back the Arabs Invasion of 7 century-year 648 A.C. trought the Derbent Pass.It was the Arab army of Osman Halifa. Here is some picture of that period of time.

Here is another interesting element in Bulgarian history - The Martenitsa. It dates from the Proto-Bulgarian times and especially from the 7 A.C and the reign of Khan Kubrat and his sons. It´s a subject of debate between historians. One thing is true. It´s and old Asian steppe tradition and it can be seen all over Asia hanged on a trees. For example in Kazakstan,Mongolia,Tatarstan, etc. The Bulgars adopted this tradition from the steppe and carried it out with them to today´s Bulgaria where everybody where it in present times on 1-th of March. It's, actually, only one of the theories of the explanation of the origins of that custom. Another one says that it is a Thracian in origin. Romanians and Moldavans have that custom as well.
In fact, Thracian theory seems more resonable to me. Martinitsas are not hanged on the trees so, that comparison with the Steppe people traditions does not make much sense...

Here is a basic summary from wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%83r%C5%A3i%C5%9ForI think the fact that the similar customs exists among Aromanians who live mostly in Greece and Albanians is solid evidence that proofs that its just an indigenous Balkan customs that isn't related to Bulgar nomades.

I am gonna start with this : There are three words which describes best the Bulgar people : Stubborn,Reistant and Rebelious. That´s why the Volga Bulgars defeated the first attemp of the Mongol army to conquer them. Here is the passage about it : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongol_invasion_of_Volga_Bulgaria
