I'm happy to announce a huge update that was just completed at Shadowed Realm. It offers a new section, many improvements, new content, and more.
Medieval Translations
Medieval translations is the newest section at Shadowed Realm. It includes an exclusive English translation of "Aucassin and Nicolette" that was translated from French by Shadowed Realm's own Kristocat. I highly recommend that you read this - it's a great, quick read and Kristocat did an excellent job of translating.
Description of "Aucassin and Nicolette":
"Aucassin and Nicolette" is a lighthearted medieval French ballad (chantefable). It recounts the adventures of two star-crossed lovers who must go to great lengths for the chance to be together, although they don't have to quite go as far as killing themselves with a dagger or poison - or do they?
Often displaying tongue-in-cheek humor, amusing role reversals, and unusual situations, this tale is guaranteed to delight even modern reader.
In addition to this translation, the new section also includes translated rondels, triolets, lays, ballads, and more from fourteenth and fifteenth century France.
Medieval Wiki
The medieval wiki was completely redesigned and rewritten and includes a new navigational structure. I've also included a new editor that will make creating and editing wiki articles much easier. Features include a spell check function, image insertion and resize options, hyperlink edits, and much more. You'll have to see it for yourself.
As if that weren't enough, there is also a new 'My Notepad' feature that allows you to save all of your notes without actually publishing anything to the wiki itself (somewhat similar to sandbox features of other wikis).
Medieval Maps
I not only redesigned the medieval maps section and added additional categories, but I also added lots of new content. With the addition of over 60 new maps in the section, the size of the collection has more than doubled.
Medieval Links
This section is the first section I started working on as I began creating Shadowed Realm, and I haven't had much of a chance to work on it since. The section been completely redesigned, and it now includes a new ratings feature. Anyone who is logged into the site will now be able to use the 5-star system to rate each link.
I've already got much more planned for the site in the near future, so if you've never visited Shadowed Realm before, now is the time.
