Those "Balkan farmers" are probably Thracians or Illyrians under Roman rule as the Slavs and Bulgars had not settled down in the region at that time yet.

The Warrior on the Upper picture is Volga Bulgar,Its probably deplicting the conflict between the Bolgars and the Mongols in 13-th century.
