It's the same time period as movie "Nomad" 18th century, the war with Jungars. The guys wearing the armour in the picture are actually Jungars, not Kazakhs. So, their armour is naturally more "far eastern" in style.

Found these reconstructions of Scythian costumes and weapons: Source: www.4hoplites.com/Scythians.htm; www.4hoplites.com/Scythian%20Photos.htmI couldn't make such myself (have no resources and manual skills), but I would like to have at least a hat like those. (The hat that I currently wear was adjusted by myself years ago from an old hood to look like those of the Achemenian images of the Steppe nomads - particularly the hats of the Asagartians, but it isn't very good - people think I am a monk, a Jew or just a crackpot (the last is closest to the truth).) Ok,Thanks,Dzungaria I like those kind of Asian names,Like Manchuria too.Interesting Steppe countries that had powerful neibhours. Yeah, me too. "Jungar" reminds me of the epic Steppe fantasy novel series with the same name by Olga Pogodina (it tells the story of an analogue of Chingis Khaan in a fictional parallel universe).
