Hey altaic fellows! I'm here again! How are you? This time I'm here to ask you about a strange language.. In this period I'm doing some studies about some ancient documents, and I came across the following list of word. I don't know the language, but some of these words seem to me to have some similarities with mongolian, especialy if one assumes an oscillation between "r" and "l" (so.. maybe a dialect?) What do you think about? Can someone of you recognize them or understand them? the list is (sorry, i've not the cyrillic transcription of every mongolian word): kuri = "shepered" (mongolian "gol"?) myrias = "earth" (mongolian "maltakh" ?) turuhna = "wind" yanzi = "king" (mongolian "ündsen"?) nula = "king" (mongolian "noën" / "noëlokh") mali = "man" (proto altaic *niari = "young male" ?) meli = "slave" kukla = "slave" (proto altaic *kula = "slave" ?) nashbu = "people" "population" marhu = "head" (mongolian "malzan"/"maljan", proto altaic *melje = "head" ?) hamiru = "foot" (mongolian "khemiel" ? "foot" whit the meaning of measure unity?) saribu = "foot" (mongolian "суурь" ?) yashu = "land" hashmar = "falcon" simbar = "young people" (mongolian "өсвөр"?) shimdi = "to give" dakash = "star" what do you think? could it be a mongolian dialect, or more in general an altaic language? do you recognize some other words?
