Dear members,
Has anyone watched the Japanese-made movie "Genghis Khan: To the Ends of Earth and Sea"? Bought it's DVD yesterday, watched it today and I must say it's far better than the Kazakh-Russian movie "Mongol". The shots are nice, the costumes are nice (and I was surprised to see Ancient Steppe art used in the movie), the story is ok in general, but there are numerious historical inaccurasies as well, probably made to have it look emotinal. Oh and I must say I found it funny to see Mongols speaking Japanese ;D ;D ;D
Well, what do you people say?

Didn't even know it existed. Is it subtitled in English?

Mine is subtitled only in Turkish, but the movie's DVD has been released in English-speaking countries too, so yes.

What makes it more excellent than Mongol?
I had an impression that it's extremely historically inaccurate not very far from Mongol in this regard. Besides, all the Mongolian warriors and war scenes looked extemely "Japanese." I believe Mongols in "Mongol" were much more authentic. " :-)

Uhm let's say the ratio of inaccurasies in the Japanese movie was lesser than in the Kazakh one ;D That's ok

Hehe ;D ;D ;D There is this one particular scene where we "learn" that Börte was the fiancee of Jamuqa, but when Temüjin returned back, Börte chose Temüjin (they had met before Yisügei's death but had to part afterwards, so before Temüjin could gain some power, Jamuqa had become Börte's fiancee). lol

Russian version was fictional with dual bladed horsemen, Japanese version corrupted the historical story and is not only fictional but emo! Yakut version is not only fictional but has Chinese shaolin monks teaching Mongols kung fu! I think I had it

LOL.
I hope one day someone can combine the historical accuracy of Chinese Genghis Khan series with Western technology so that we would have a real awesome movie.
