Any of you here about the great mongolian Chormaqan? He is discussed in the secret history. He conquered the Kwarazim Empire, and transcaucasia. What is amazing was his ability to organize and slowly crush the enemy. There arent any battles of much signifigance, but that is becuase that was not his way. He prefered to slowely eat away at their defences. After conquest he proved to be a very good ruler, the first Mongolian govener in the middle east. He laid the foundation work for the future power of the Ilk-Khanate. I have read a good book on him, but the best online info is from here: www.historynet.com/mh/blchormaquan/Cheers

He was one of only two generals trusted by Temulgin to permanent commands (Muhuali in China/Manchuria was the other).

I have read a good book on him... kscott - what is the title and author of the book? I would be interested in getting a copy. Also, on this page: www.deremilitari.org/resources/externalarticles.htmunder Timothy May, you can download a 112 page PDF - "Chormaqan Noyan, the first Mongol Military Governor in the Middle East".
