The Japanese also have a legend that claims Genghis was Japanese. It's all just nationalistic silliness. Temujin was Mongolian. There's no evidence to dispute this whatsoever. i heart that japaneese celebrates the day of kubilai khan's ships' sanking day which were coming to japan to conquer.

:'(So I found these posts by someone in TalkHistory. * Genghis Khan was originally from Korea then they migrated to China then to Mongolia More than 90% of his army were Chinese and Korean only 5% Mongolian the other 5% were Europeans, Turks, Russians, Persians and Arabs * Is it correct to call the Mongol Empire also the Korean Empire? Why I say that is because Genghis Khan was from originally from Korea beforing his fater moving to China and then to Mongolia. Some people even call it the Chines Empire. * The correct/original pronunciation of Genghis Khan is Chin-geez Han Chin-geez Han means The Chinese Man who Rules the World The word China today comes from the name of Emperor Chin in arround 200 b.c. who united all of China. Vaaaahahahaha! Muuhahaha! Can't help laughing, hahaha! This is the stupidest thing about Chinggis Khaan that I have read in my life! Everyone wants to be Mongolian or every nation wants to make Chinggis from their nationality. I'm most grateful for the Americans for not saying that Chinggis Khaan was American ;D.

I asked the original question of this thread to Prof. Dr. Ýsenbike Togan from the Middle Eastern Technical University and she said the original form was Chinggis Khan. Togan is afrad of saying the truth about the other subject. What a pity, she is not on the way of her father...

Because she doesn't falsify history to proove the rightness of wild theories like his father did Sad but true... Zeki Velîdî Togan was a great scholar, but he was also known with falsifying history for his own wild theories. The same was done by Osman Turan and the like. Ýsenbike Togan is way ahead of his father in means of historical methodology, in my opinion.

Just in case anyone actually needs an answer... :-)
As this forum is in English the best transliteration is Chinggis Khan
Ch.. as English speakers will prounounce the gh in Ghengis too hard. and Khan as they can't pronounce Qaan with a hard q sound.
