I think you're confusing portraits. That drawing is from centuries after Genghis' death, and it looks more like an Indian Mogul than a Mongol. The armor is not Mongolian or even of Genghis' period. That pic is obviously a western-style woodcut, probably made in the 1700's or 1800's. Long after anyone could verify what Genghis looked like--especially as a young man. THIS is the approved official portrait of Genghis Khan. It was painted during the Yuan dynasty by order of Khubilai Khan himself. And Khubilai even assigned several old acquaintences of Genghis' to supervise the artist and make sure he painted an accurate likeness. Notice than Genghis is portrayed as an old man. This makes sense because by the time this was painted everyone who knew him as a young man was dead. But a few people who knew him as an old man (including Khubilai) were still alive. They only knew the old Temujin. So that's what they described, and that's what was painted. If this picture was good enough to be approved by Khubilai, then to me this is the only true likeness of Temujin.

That's a modern monument. Presumably the artist copied an old scroll or some such.

I CAN~T APPROVE THIS PI! pohahaha! who can say he is gengis khan? it's the result of drawer's nation's fear to gengis khan. so they draw pics like that to show gengis khan as a silly man.
