For anyone who speaks Mongolian I'm curious what the meanings are of the names of some famous Mongolians. I know a few (Temujin = iron worker, Jochi = guest, etc) but many are a mystery to me. I'm curious to know what other names like Qubilai and Yesugei mean.

I`m Mongol. ;D But even Mongols doesn`t understand old names In my opinion : Yesuhei, Yesugei = 9 th, maybe he was 9th child. Hubilai,Qubilai =/sounds like chinese name/ -There are words Hubilgaan, Hubil, Hubilah 1.Hubilgaan=High shaman=One of The descendant of great khaan which took his shamanic powers. 2.Hubil, Hubilah = to change its appearance = to turn into something. Example ; Chono bolon Hubilah=Turn into wolf=become warewolf(=Bosoo oroolan=Hun chono). /+ei/ and /+ai/ is used to make some /baby/ name friendly. ;D
