There were Turkic peoples before the Blue Turk Empire, but the name Turk became their common name only after the 7th-8th centuries. There were also Mongolic peoples before the Mongol Empire, but back than, the name Mongol was the name of one of the Mongolic peoples, like the name Turk.

Yes tribal divisions when there so little difference between us at those times. We fought both side by side and against each other for not just centuries, over a millenia if not more. But whenever we united, the world quaked in utter fear.
