I think so. But modern religions have covered many of those beliefs.
In many parts of the world now only very few people know "Mother Earth".

Animism (worshipping the souls of every living and non-living creatures) was also a common set of belief.

I think that was a Roman practice which spread to Europe and to the World later. Mongols believe that if U sneeze hard U can die cuz it was believed that human soul leave the body from nose holes. ;D

Almost all people had some form of animism, a Sky Father/Earth Mother concept and ancestor worship. Ancestor worship lasted the longest, even into the 19th century in some rural areas

Yes European Mother Earth is called Gaia, a Greek goddess, nonetheless she's one lucky goddess as she's the only one that is still acknowledged in the western world
