BAKKAL means a small market where you can buy everything including groceries.
I'm trying to figure if this word is Turkic in origin. (Bak: take a look - Al: Buy, take it). It's accepted as an Arabic loan in Turkish. I'm trying to figure if Arabic borrowed it from a Turkic language or not. (supposedly Arabic borrowed it from Latin; "baccalis")
Do you use a similar word in other Turkic speaking countries?
