That's simply awesome! Wow, state propaganda does try to finance and make a show for the world and the PRC's citizens that the minorities get the best they could. Its the first time I managed to see some of the lesser known groups, although it would have been great to see the unrecognized groups also and then I would have called it a complete ethnographic portrait. Btw, lol at the Taiwanese minorities! I'm sure they said some bs to get past the Taiwanese authorities to click those two shots!

I get a kick out of how all these people are dressed in traditional clothing and then the Russians are dressed in modern clothing.

Fantastic pics. Thank you so much Hjernespiser. Dongxiang people seem like our Uighur & Salar brothers. The Dongxiang Akhunds would wear the same outfit as Salar Akhunds (who weren't photographed) However, the Dongxiang women wear headdresses that are influenced by the Mongolians and Tibetans of the region, where as the Salar women wear hijabs that imitate the Turkmen bonnet and scarf-veil. These are the Hexi (west of Yellow River) "localized" Muslim groups, together with the Bonan (Baoan). They are actually very different from the Uygurs if you pay close attention. I notice that the Bonan women wear hijabs that are almost like the Salars.
