This is an odd question, so bear with me...
The presence of heavy metal in East Asian nations such as China and Japan are well documented. Bands like Sigh from Japan and Tang Dynasty from China are prominent examples of East Asian metal bands.
As a Chinese metalhead, I know that Chinese Metal heavily features Chinese instrumentation and Chinese musical forms. Some of the metal comes from Mongols living in China, and thus has features like throat singing and the morin khuur.
This got me thinking; is there metal in places like Xinjiang*? Is there heavy metal in places like Kazakhstan, or Tajikistan or Uzbekistan? If so, who plays such music? To what extent are native forms of music integrated into the framework of metal, if it exists? Also, do the locals protest heavy metal as Satanic or Anti-Moralistic like they do in the Middle East?
Zugeer L, a metal band from Mongolia.
Ego Fall, featuring throat singing.
*or if you would prefer, the ETR. As a citizen of the PRC, I will call it Xinjiang.

Greetings yli, welcome aboard You can check the Kazakh group Ulytau (they have their songs online in their website - just google "Ulytau"). Btw, here we do not recognise any place called "Xinjiang"

I know you don't recognize Xinjiang. I'm just using it to be contrary. Ulytau is very, very good.
