Greetings jagisukh, welcome aboard. I checked my Mongolian dictionary but could not find the word (I tried hard to remember it before checking it yet that prooved to be unsuccessful) I'm sure our Mongolian members would help you better.

I don't know what does Zelme means. It doesn't mean anything in Modern Mongolian. Some linguistic experts may help you.

It's actually a Turkic name, probably Orkhon Turkic. It means sabre/blade. The modern Mongolian is selm (in Khalkha)

Ah yes, forgot the Old Turkic Y -> Classical Mongolian J -> Khalkha Mongolian Z sound change The word is indeed Old Turkic Yälmä (Yelme) which means "vanguard".
