Always wanted to learn how to ride a horse considering my roots from both my father's and my mother's side. Unfortunately here in Finland the offering is very poor and most of the classes are just the usual, boring and useless european-style riding.
Agreed with a relative that the next I time go to Kazakhstan he'll teach me to ride a horse. That's just a must.

Look at this guy go! Kassai Lajos: Record holder event: www.youtube.com/watch?v=InWW_uhX_Ts&feature=relatedTraining: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVYyEg3N9nI&feature=related(He's bobbing up and down to practice firing accurately on a moving horse yes?) This is freakin deadly, sometimes I really wonder why musket volleys even dominated the imperial battlefields. But then again, like a crossbow, gunmen can be trained easily en masse I guess. Guess that's the advantage of nomads. Archery takes a very long time to train, helps if you spent every day hunting all ur lives anyway. Too bad guns are also used in hunting amongst nomads nowadays =(

Hi, I'm Bulgarian and practicing traditional archery. I have Istvan Toth 60# Mongol bow. Recently I've made a thumb ring from horn to use it in "mongol draw". A friend of mine got Horse farm and someday I'm going to try horseback archery. Here in Bulgaria there are a few traditional warrior organisations in which they training mounted archery. Here some picture of me:

Hello Draconist, There is a Horseback archery school in Bulgaria that teaches under the Kassai system. You have no idea how jelous I am of people who have a Horseback archery school in their own country. It is a lot easier than teaching yourself and training your own horses without anyone teaching or showing you.

Thank you Benjamin! I know about this horseback archery school under the Kassai system. Vlado, who's leading the school, has given me my first step into archery. Hope Kassai will open a school in your country too.

draconist, Get a bow with a much lighter draw weight if you plan on doing horseback archery. The bow is for the art, not for hunting. You don't need a shoulder cuff injury from trying to pull 60# all day long.
Benjamin, Where is your country?

You don't need a shoulder cuff injury from trying to pull 60# all day long. I know that and planing to order a 40# or 30#. I'm not going to hunt. I've bought it 'cos I need to feel a draw strength when I'm shooting on foot.

Heh think it goes without saying that unless you're a top shot with a bow, it's best to stick to guns for hunting... Unless you can climb trees very fast ;D
Boars are real-life killers. Heh sorry, old memories.
