No, he is a professor at the Mimar Sinan University in Ýstanbul. He's one of the leading Ancient Turk (Blue Turk period) History experts in Turkey.

No, that is a separate article. His books are about the Blue Turks (Gök-Türks, three volumes) and the Turkic peoples of that period (he also has a rare book about Bilgä Qaghan's inscription). His articles are mostly about these too.

No, they haven't been translated into any other languages yet. They are only in Turkish, unfortunately.

Definitially not; trade was very common among steppe nomads.
