If you put Scythian Burial Mounds into Google you get lots of sites with information about kurgans.
Photo's are a bit dull they are after all just rounded piles of dirt with grass etc growing on them.

I think the fact that suprised me most about the mounds is that they are not scratched from the dirt and clay of the area, - that is to say they are not mounds of clay and rock but of the best quality fertile black earth, made of laboriously transported prime sod from the best grazing areas - so probabally represent a sacrifice of prime pasture land. Today in the Ukraine its a farmer's prize to be able to plow down such a treasure. -Rick i have quite some pictures about that in my book, i'll take ptictures when i have time. heh, i promised that already over a year ago but i'll really do it this week.
