I think Tang dynasty was a classic Chinese empire. During Tang times, Chinese culture, economics and everything prospered and reached it's highest level. With decline of Tang dynasty chinese divided and opened the gates to be invaded by nomads from the north. I wouldn't say Sung was a strong dynasty because Zurchids took northern half of China and Sung generals were fighting each other and human suffering was tremendous at the time.
I dont consider Yuan as a Chinese dynasty because Hubilai was a Mongol and the most higher ranking officials were mongols and turks not a Han chinese.
Ming was a Chinese dynasty but never been able to reach Tang dynasty levels and invaded by evil Zurchids again in 1644AD.

It is impossible not to consider the Manchu Qing as a Chinese dynasty.

It is impossible not to consider the Manchu Qing as a Chinese dynasty. Well, the fact is that originally it was not chinese-dynasty at all. Later Jin/Qing was pure Manchu-dynasty once, but in 1800's they became more chinese (culturally and mentally) than chinese themselves...

it is true that the Manchu are considdered a Chiense dynasty because they accepted the mandate of heaven thing. BUT, only members of the Golden Family were accepted as legitimate rulers in Asia and the Manchu very often intermarried with princesses of the Golden Family so their rulers would have the blood of Chinggis in their veins. that means politically the Manchu legitimated their rule not only according to Chinese tradition but also to Steppe tradition! even Nadir Shah did marry one such princess of the Golden Family.

Before 1902 marriages between Manchus and chinese were illegal. But by then very few Manchu men were left uncastrated (cos of their super stupid traditions of only castrated men serving in the royal palace), and the Manchu girls were given to the Chinese men and the Manchu nation soon disappeared from the history ;D

And Manchu-nation is not disappeared yet totally, but I think that most original manchus live in Russian controlled-areas.

The Qing was a non-Han Chinese-origined Manchu dynasty ruling China and speaking Han Chinese.
Please do not confuse Chinese (Zh¨nggu¨®r¨¦n ÖйúÈË) and Han (H¨¤nr¨¦n ººÈË).
