I had earlierly read in David Nicolle's Armies of Islam 7th-11th Centuries from the Osprey Series that some Oghuz Turk mercenaries served in Muslim Iberia in the 11th century. Today I found some interesting info about these in A. Zeki Velidî Togan's Umumî Türk Tarihi'ne Giriþ (Introduction to General Turkic History), Ýstanbul 1980 edition, page 180:
The Oghuz serving in Islâmic armies went as far as Maghrib (Northwestern Africa) and Andalusia where they served as mercenaries for the Muwahhidîn Dynasty. A Muslim Oghuz amîr (ruler) named Sha'ban had estates in Spain with the income of 7,000 dinars. The Oghuz serving in the Ayyûbid armies of Egypt set garnisons in Northeastern Africa, Upper Egypt, Syria and Hijaz. Some towns, like 'Îdhâb in Northwestern Arabia, were inhabited mostly or totally by the Oghuz Turks.
Besides these, we all know that a large number of Anatolian Turks migrated to North Africa where they became the ruling elite. However, most of these later became assimiliated into the Arabs and Berbers.

Ghazâ (Holy War) is the military branch of Jihâd (Holy Struggle). They served in Muslim armies so they were probably issued to the Christian-Muslim frontier in Central Iberia.

oh I allways thought the ghazas were raids of smaller groups on non-believer terotories to weaken the enemy or for suplies ofcourse scouting. The hole army would arrive and the jihad would start than

No, Jihâd includes non-military struggles (economic, cultural, scientific) too. Ghazâ is the military part But most ghazâs were indeed raids into enemy territories.
