Let us give information about the books and articles written on the military history of the Steppes: - Warriors of the Steppe: Written by Eric Hildinger. Quiet a nice book. A must-read for steppe military history lovers. But it focuses more on the steppe peoples who had contacts and relationships with Europe, so it does not include empires like the Xiongnu, Blue Turks, White Huns, Uyghurs, On Oq, Qara Khitai, etc... - Osprey's books: Osprey has many small books on steppe military history. They are a good read - Gorelik's books: I have seen quiet a lot of diagrams and drawings from the Russian scholar Gorelik's books on Steppe military history, but I have not seen any of his books yet.

i personally don't like the Hildinger book, he makes quite a lot mistakes, i have quit reading the book after the Mongol chapter because of this. Osprey books are pretty descent, especially newer ones. up to now i have only one Gorelik book yet (which is a translation from Russian) and i find it excellent, unfortunately most of his books are in Russian...

- Selçuklular'da Ordu ve Askerî Kültür: "Army and Military Culture in the Seljuqids", written by Salim Koca. Eventhough this book focuses on Seljûqid military, it has lots of valuable information about Pre-Seljûqid Turkic military. The "Military Traditions" section is very interesting.

Jaraghan Temir Kigender is a book in Qazaq written by Akhmetjanov Kaliolla Samatulu; it has some nice information on Turkic warriors, but the book is hard to acquire, plus it is not in English. TJK from AE used to talk about a book written in Polish whose title was translated into English as "Armies of the Turkish Tribes" by TJK. I wonder who the author and the original title of the book was
