I saw it in our history museum....the one next to Sukhbaatar Square. There was a cannon which could be placed on a horse...basically it looked like a saddle but with a cannon on it!!!! I don't remember when or what it was used for but it wasn't detachable from its base...no wheels or nothing...which made me think that It was fired from horse back!!!!!! I don't know which period it comes from......I will try and found more details.....will ask a friend to check it out. Any of the members seen or heard anything like that? ?

well, in Iran, Afghanistan & India in 18th century it was very common to have small swivel guns mounted on camelback...i think there were also guns mounted on elephants but i'm not sure. i never heard of such guns mounted on horses though, i assume it was used for camels, not horse...

I do not think that horses were fit for cannons to be placed on their back and fired.

If my memory serves me right..it had a base of a Mongolian saddle and there was no way it could be put between a camels humbs. The reason I remember this is because it was meant to be placed on a horse...I wondered what it was like at the time and that remained in my head. I'll try to get more details.

i would tend to agree with Tigin, a horse is not fit for a canon to be fired on its back...
