Ok so if I want the "most official" or the "most recognized" flag amongst the Salar, should I use the first one with the Turkmen pattern or the second one without it?

you should use the second one. the second one is official. no dispute about the Salurtamga.
However, the first one which has Turkmen patterns, is also approved by Idris, a Salar intellectual who hosts the forum. Although some express the sense that the Turkmen patterns are part of the flag of a living sovereign nation, and the idea of sharing common symbols with current national flags is sort of a grey area (but it's been done before).
if all symbol convergence was deemed "unoriginal", then there would not be common Slavic colors, or common Turkic/Islamic moon-star pattern, nor would the common color of blue be shared among us.

Yes, it comes from the root word "Sal-" meaning "Let go freely", and Salar or Salur means someone who lets something go freely.
At least, this is what I think or guess.

Salar is a Turkic language, belonging to the southern branch of the Altaic language family (therefore non Indo-European). The Salar people (Chinese: ÈöÀ×åorÈöÀ¶û, Pinyin: S¨¡l¨¡z¨²) are one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China. They numbered 140,000 people in the last census and live mostly in Qinghai (in Xunhua Salar Autonomous County and Hualong Autonomous County of the Hui Nationality ), in Gansu (in Jishishan Autonomous County of the Bonan, Dongxiang and Salar Nationalities ) and in Xinjiang (in the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture ).They are a patriarchal agricultural society and Muslims.
History
The Salars of China have Claim themself as "Salır".Salar is also as Salur in Turkish and azerbaijani,Salar is also as Salır in Turkmenish and Salar. The Salars' ancestors were from the Karaman clan(or Karaman tribe) branch of ancient the Salar(Salur,Salyr )tribal of Oghuz Turks(Turkmens). According to Salar tradition, during the 13th and 14th centuries their ancestors,Who left Mary in present-day Turkmenistan and eventually settled in their present location in Qinghai province.Contemporary Salar is heavily influenced by contact with Tibetan and Chinese.
Salar language
Salar is a Turkic language spoken by the Salar people, who mainly live in the provinces of Qinghai and Gansu in China; some also live in Ghulja, Xinjiang. The Salar number about 140,000 people.
Salar(Salur/Salır/Salyr) tribe
Salur is also as Salgur,Salır(Salyr),Salar,Salor,Salirli,Salurlu,Salgurlu.
Salur,Salar, Salyr or Salgur were an ancient Oghuz Turkic people and a sub-branch of the Üçok tribal federation. The medieval Karamanoğlu beylik in Anatolia belonged to the Karaman branch of the Salur. The patriarchs of the modern Turkmen tribe of Salyr in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, as well as the Salar nationality in China claim descent from the Salur.After Seljuks' era closed in middle east, they established a state named as Salgulular State in Iraq centered area in 12th century and they support other T¨¹rkmens for reconstruction of Anatolia. In Dede Korkut's epic tales one of the heroes "Salur Kazan" is also a salurian people. Some of the Salurs still live in Anatolia, middle east and centeral asia and China.
Xunhua Salar Autonomous County
Xunhua Salar Autonomous County (simplified Chinese: Ñ»¯ÈöÀ×å×ÔÖÎÏØ; pinyin: X¨²nhu¨¤ S¨£l¨¢z¨² Z¨¬zh¨¬xi¨¤n) lies in the southeast of Haidong Prefecture of the Chinese province of Qinghai, for instance 35.5¡ã northern latitude, 102,3¡ã eastern longitude. The county has an area of around 2,100 km² and approximately 110,000 inhabitants (2002). In the east it borders on the province of Gansu, in the south and the west to the Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, its capital is the town of Jishi.
