note that this isn't definite 'proof' or anything, it was apparently just for fun, and most projectile weapons used would not be contemporary to the use of lamellar armor anyways. nevertheless, i think it is quite interesting and shows thta lamellar was quite an effective type of armor overall. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSxFY917UH8

True, and producers of the video also mention that the materials used were not exactly the same with historical materials (ie quality of the steel etc). Still it gives us a general idea about the topic.

We know the usage of golden armor by Göktürk qaghans in the 6th-7th centuries, as recorded in the Chinese sources. They were only for decoration purposes though, and we also know that the color of gold, yellow, was one of the imperial regalia of Gokturk qaghans.
