Just noticed there has already been quite a few movie threads around... but none for the very funny semi-historical movie featuring Gerald Butler as a Hun! Yes... Gerald Butler... "This is MADNESS!" You say? "Madness? THIS... IS... THE STEPPES!!!" ;D *kick* hehe Next up we have Mickey Rourke as Chingghis Khaan! Yes I'm actually serious Check it out for yourself! Unbelievable ain't it? Nah not really, it's Hollywood ;D Truth of the day: Ignorance is bliss! Hahaha But history/accuracy/hollywood-habits aside lol... let's talk about the Attila film. Personally I found the Roman sections of the film very well done (entertainment-wise) - especially with Tim Curry (I swear I cracked up every scene he was in). And enjoyed the film for what it's worth, it had a few great lines in it, especially when delivered well. How about you guys? What you think about it? "A roman Emperor, subject to extortion like a common shopkeeper!" - Emperor Valentinian "Why plunder for food? when we can own the fields that grow it! Why plunder for gold? when we can own the mountains that countain it! Why plunder for slaves? when we can own NATIONS!" - Trailer speech (I won't spoil Tim Curry's lines because in my opinion, they were the best delivered - you have to see him in action for yourself)

As you mentioned, it's just a typical Hollywood production Plus, the 5th century Romans were all depicted as 1st-2nd century Romans. BBC's "Ancient Rome" documentary was far better in that sense, for example.

God I remember that stinker.
Where did Mickey Rourke play Genghis Khan? I checked his IMDB and didn't see any mention of it.

I got over the initial shock of the idea only to hesitate as to whether I should laugh or cry when I read this: "[Rourke] really likes that Khan was also a dog lover: "in one instance, in this script, he orders his men -- 'Hold the dogs back.' He was looking out for the dogs. I like that.""

LOL yeah I know! I lost count of the face-palms myself when I read that ;D The Attila movie however, was entertaining despite tons of errors, as many of them are humorous. I wonder if the next Hollywood production will be the same, or downright offensive instead. Hopefully the former

I'm hoping that Mickey Rourke just hallucinated all of this. Although John Milius is a Mongol buff, so it might be credible..

That was the most historically accurate production I saw about Genghis Khan's life.
