IMO, Obama is pretty much the opposite of Bush, Jr.
Politics - naturally opinions and blame have been thrown around 2 weeks after he took office, but 10 months in is really early to say much.
Americans are impatient and can't understand why all of our economic problems haven't gone away. They are scared of the additional debt that we have taken on. So blame is beginning to be seriously passed on to Obama's administration, even though much of the policies are actually defined and delivered by Congress - something we forget. Some were already in place at the end of the Bush adm. The economy is showing positive signs, but they are slow in coming at this point and there is still much unemployment.
Meanwhile our congress seems to have sunk to a new low of petty arguments and greed. I worry this country will never fully be what it once was until large corporations and their lobbyists and their money are removed from government. We need some trust busting too. If that is even possible now. I suspect the man who manages that will be in eminent physical danger.
I am very much pleased with his approach to foreign policy - for once America shows appreciation and respect for other cultures and does not assume the whole world is dying to be like the USA. I'm sure that comes in part from his own upbringing in both the USA and also outside of the USA.
Some of you stated he is a good writer, but for those who are not where he is so available, he speaks even better with honesty and sincerity and therefore makes an excellent speaker.
Conservatives think he is far to liberal and I suspect his race affects them some too and liberals think he is far to middle of the road. Oh well, you'll never please them all.
I only hope he is able to live up to the potential that he has shown. funny, I didn't even vote for him, but I am glad now that he won the election and he has my support fwiw.
He sure has a tough job ahead and so many areas to tackle.
