I would like to make a list of the versions of the word Tengri (God/Sky) in Altaic and some other non-Indo-European languages. Turkic: Täŋri/Teŋri, Taŋrý (in Old Anatolian; became Tanrý today), Teŋer (in Sakha if I remember correctly) Mongolian: Teŋri/Tengri, Teŋgeri/Tenggeri, Teŋer/Tenger Chinese: Tiān (T'ien) 天, pronounced Ten in the Sui Dynasty Period Japanese: Ten 天 (passed from Chinese) Sumerian: Dingir (meaning "Deity") Etruscan: Tinis (primary god in the Etruscan pantheon) So people, please share your knowledge on this topic I would like you to give more detailed information from all the Turkic and Mongolic dialects. I also would like to know what is the word for Sky and God in the Tungusic dialects.

The Finnish form seems to be related with Tengri However, I had expected the Hungarian word to look similar to this Altaic word, but we have seen that it does not look so related with Tengri. That is strange because the Magyars had more relationships with the Turkic nomads Hey wait a minute, what does the part -ten mean?

Ah so, Ten originially meant God? Looks exactly the same with Early Midle Chinese Ten, also looks very similar to the Turko-Mongol Tengri! Tenger looks more similar to Turkic Täŋiz (Sea). Kék looks similar to Turkic Kök (Blue) Hmm, ég looks unfamiliar to me

In hungarian God is Isten. The Is word had original meaning of ancestor (Ős). Also, Is is similar to "Öz" in Turkish, meaning the pith, extract, soul, self and in some conditions ancestor.

Nemesis! I guess U are Mongol!?(Why don`t U introduce yourself in "General board"-"Introduce youself" page, btw don`t forget to post your photo! ) Tsenher(=Tsenkher) - "light blue" recently some dumb Russian lang followers called "Gay"="Tsenher" cuz Russians call "gay"="Goluboy"="blue", In Mongolian lang "Huu"="Boy"="Son". "Bandi"="Boy"="Gay". "Bandidah"="rape a boy" or "Do the gay sex". I don`t admire those who call "gay" ppl as "blue" cuz blue color is dear/sacret to real Mongols. Huh(=Kok, Khuh..etc) - "Dark blue" or "Deep blue". also it can be "Boobs" or verb "to suck". "U suck!"="Chi Khuh!" ;D Mongols sometimes call Tengri as "Father Tengri"="Itseg Tengri/Tenger". Also : "Lord Tengri"="Ezen Tenger" "Eternal Tengri"="Munh/Munkh Tenger"
