Mongols are mostly archers (Buryat hunter) (Mongol women are very skillful archers) (Face to face combat is messy & stupid ;D I mean it is better to use bow & arrow than a sword. In battle you can`t protect your eyes even closed from an arrow!) Wrestler falls in a taller grass Rich men falls in one winter Hero falls in an arrow.

During Manchu rule Mongols started to wear jackets -for parties, ceremonies, naadam(=game)...etc. As nomadic thinking that clothing is symbol of Nation late Manchu(=manchu people became more & more chinese like) wanted to unite the cultures -make everyone one nation or country! I mean they declared a law of Same hairstyle & Same clothing! (The second and third generation emperors of the Qing learned that is was only possible to rule China if the Manchu became Chinese themselves, not racial, but culturally and mentally.) Mongol jackets : These are mongol jackets made by mongols who don`t follow their traditions : The chest is straight cracked -like T-shirt. It is forbitten for real mongols to wear such jacket! Imagine strong cold wind bolwing to your chest, it will be cold in this jackets because they have crack on chest. [glow=red,2,300]Black edge [/glow]-black edged deel or jackets are used during funeral ceremonies and mouring. Peresently in mongolia black edged deel is very popular,-why I don`t understand Maybe most mongols forgot their traditions. However Djungars(=Zuun gar=Oirads) wear black edged deels. But in inner mongolia they don`t wear black edged deels. (Real Mongol`s I mean the tribes of Chinggis khaan) -Daily deel`s edge must be white,green,blue,brown....etc But not Black! You see chinese jackets :(I think chinese started to wear such jackets during Manchu rule) (Chinese jacket`s are mostly straight cracked. And mostly has no edge lines -or edges are mostly back.)

Mongol helmet with Dragon : Dragon boots for religious dance : Mongol Armor of Mongol-Yuan empire(with blue dragon) Some may think that mongols like Dragons like other Asians do.(Chinese, Japanese, Korean...etc think that Dragons bring luck & fortune) Mongols believe that Dragons bring death & decay. -I mean bad creature and very hungry. Mongol Hero killing a Dragon : Mongols believe that Clothing is made of animal skin. So We made clothing from Dragon skin.(You need to kill a dragon before ). We don`t describe Garuda on our clothing because we worship to it. Some Mongols do not like to wear Deels with Dragons.

Mongol Hero killing a Dragon : This is very interesting, the image is a straight copy of a c. 1380 Persian manuscript miniature of an islamic saint killing a dragon. The armour is Persian and the halo (gold circle around the saints head) is normally only seen in Christian and later Islamic art. As the picture appears to be of a textile, is it a local copy of the ancient book?

tadamson, ive saw on national geographic channel historical background about those dragon statue's in london and such. They said the dragon symbol came from a Turkish legend, in that Turkish legend a Turkish warrior had beaten a dragon, they renamed that Turkish warrior with "george" if i remember correct and its been a folk tale out there.
Can you clarify this? Am i correct?

It would be very ironic if the St. George legend was borrowed from the Turks, because later St George became a very popular figure among Turkish and Mongolian Nestorians.

Ok The pic was a copy. I thought this hero was a Mongol ;D You see the top of helmet! these 2 red things are one of the symbols of Mongols. If you are wearing hat with this : Seeing this pics I hope you understood what am I talking about ;D -if you don`t have it(2 red thing -I`m not good at ENG) on your hat you are not real mongol.-maybe you are Kazakh, Uighur...etc ;D This 2 things called RED ZALAA (=Red crest) By the way! Speaking about HEROs Chinese & Russian top heros wear high boots! -T mean steppe boots. I know that high boots are tradionaly not chinese & russian. -Can a ordinary guy from steppes become a top hero among Chinese or Russian? ;D ;D ;D ;D

In Mongolia even Girls wear Pointed hats ;D About Mongol pointed hat : Famouse Mongol hat called HATGUUR(=means Pointed) Mongols(=3 river Mongols) wear pointed hat Pointed hat symbolizes legendary mountain SUMBER( also Syambi -some say : Shambal=Himalaya ). The top is ETERNAL SUN and 4 yellow SUN RAYS. There are 33 down lines symbolizes legendary 33 MONGOLIAN TRIBES who were guarding the mountain Sumber. The black edge symbolizes ENEMIES WHO SURROUNDED the mountain Sumber. In the back, there are no black edge meaning: "-there are no enemy behind us(=we don`t leave any living enemy behind us)" 2 RED Ribbon symbolizes the ATTACK(=Fire=Life)-Going to Freedom MAN & WOMEN TOGETHER(=Actually it means Mongols went North, leaving their sacret mountain-but I`m not sure). You can put any symbol on these ribbons(-mostly THE Symbols of ETERNITY).
