Well...I don`t have photos/pics Did U know that the biggest air battle of WWII took place in Halhiin Gol.! Mongol & Russian pilots VS Samurais.

this is a very important battle actually, it started with a border clash between Mongol and Manchu Cavalry and ended as a major battle between the Soviet Union and Japan with tanks, air planes and everything that would be the standard in ww2. also, Japans defeat in this battle was the reason why the Japanese did not attack the Soviet Union after the germans launched Barbarossa. Hitler hoped for a two fronts war with Russia, but after this event, Japan knew it was unable to win a modern war against Soviet Union so Stalin could withdraw most forces on the Manchurian border to the west and descide the battle for Moscow. here is a site in German (some parts are English) about the battle of Nomonhan (thats how japanese called it): www.ww2technik.de/sites/gefechte/nomonhan.htm
