I got this from AF, any ideas?
An American diplomat named William Woodville Rockhill traveled thru Mongolian and Tibetan territories in the late 1890s. In his travels, Mr. Rockhill chronicled his meetings with and observations of the local tribesman, including several Mongolian "groups" whose names I have never come across in any of my readings. I don't know if these "groups" can be called tribes but may instead be regarded as sub-tribes or even family clans. These groups are as follows:
(1) San-ch'uan Mongols of Koko Nor
(2) Tolmuk or Tolmukgun Mongols (Muslims)
(3) Tankar Mongols of Koko Nor
(4) Ottok Mongols
(5) Shang Mongols
(6) Korluk Mongols
(7) Taichinar Mongols
(8) Sartang Mongols
(9) Tajinur Mongols
