Have you tried this link? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumans#HistoryCumans were at war with Rus, Hungary, Byzantines, also the remnants Pechenegs and Oguzes. The combined force of all the Cuman hordes at that time was somewhere between 100 to 150 thousand warriors. Yeah I have checked the wiki site but I was just thinking I may get better information from this forum being that steppe peoples are its interest. thx Sub2

About the german usage of the word "Falbe" In Germany this word is in use for a race of horses. These horses are not so big, have brown yellow or brown white fur and dark hairs de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falbe_(Pferdefarbe)

in my theory's cumas = kipchaks / kipchaks = cumans. but some telling here on forum that cumans and kipchaks are not same.. he say that he have sources/theory's: what think you guys here about then:
nuel92; "Interesting project! good luck
I have two question. 1. What's diffrence between Quman and Qipchaq? to my knowledge, Kuman = Qiqchaq = Polovtsy. 2. to my knowledge, in 1040, Abbasid caliphate is subordinate to Buyid dynasty. Then…, where is Buyid?
Sorry for my poor English"
Silesian_Noble; "Well this is not that simple. Qipchaks were not the same as Qumans. I mean both those confederations of nomads had the same ancestor but later as they migrated to different areas they absorbed some tribes which made them ethnicaly slightly different. Also Qumans were mostly under Rus and Georgia culture influense, while Qipchaks under Khwarezmian. This caused that the warriors of Qipchaks and Qumans looked a bit differently, for example heavier Qumans wore mail armor mostly, while heavier Qipchaks lamellar armor rather."
"For example Poles, Bohemians and Obodrites were all Western Slavs relatives, they could understand each other easily but formed separate states. Similar Qipchaks and Qumans - they were relatives, had similar language, could easily understand each other but formed separate nomadic confederations. Capital of Qipchaks was in Syghnaq, the political centres of Qumans were located in Black sea steppe settlements, like Saqsin or Sharukan."

What makes two different theories exist is because those peoples were known with different names by different peoples, such as Qypchaq, Cuman/Koman, Kun, Polovtsy, Falben, etc.
