Well, I wrote it in Turkish but here I must post English. And it is really hard to protect the rhyme in translating. Forgive me, I will just try to protect the meaning of the poem.
Here is the original one:
Kiev Destanı
Sisli bir akşamüstü, Kiev'in önlerinde
Ordudaki şamanlar, kutsal törenlerinde
Möngke, soylu bir yiğit, bekliyordu Batu'yu
Moğol gelmiş önüne, Rus Kiev sen yat, uyu...
Bir asker mırıldandı, içli bir Moğol yırı
Hatırlıyordu belki, yurdundaki çadırı
Hasreti büyümüştü, birdenbire içinde,
Adam öldürmek niye, şu dünyanın hiçinde
Sonra irkildi şöyle, vurdu öz suratına
Dedi: "Bre densiz it.", sarıldı pusatına
"Bundan sonra olmaz hiç, buyruğu sorgulamak
Gök girsin kızıl çıksın!", and içti diz vurarak...
Möngke elçi yolladı, şehri teslim almaya
Korkak Mihayl yoktu ki, balıklama dalmaya
Sert çıkıştı Dimitri, astırdı elçileri
Kudurttu Moğolları, kızdırdı her bir eri...
Bunun üstüne Batu, hızlandı şehre doğru
Şamanlar söylemişti, yağacak kardı uğru
Yılın bu son ayında, sabırsızdı Moğollar
Batu'nun gelişiyle, çalındı tüm davullar
O ne heybetli yiğit, Coçi'nin oğlu Batu
Kiev de onun için, oyuncaktan bir kutu...
Rus halk korku içinde, bekliyordu ölümü
Nicesinden duymuştu, Moğolların zulmünü
Dimitri'nin gururu, yakacaktı onları
Çok acı olacaktı, masumların sonları
Lakin savaş halinde, yoktur suçlu ve suçsuz
Hükmedendir güçlüler, ve yenilendir güçsüz...
Mancınıklar başladı, kapıları dövmeye
Dimitri başlamıştı, talihine sövmeye
Kapılar tahtadandı, kırıldılar çok çabuk
Kıpkızıl doğacaktı, bir gün sonraki ufuk
Ertesi gün baskınla, şehre daldı atlılar
Görenlerin kalbine, karku saldı atlılar
Akşamüstü olmadan, ele geçti tüm şehir
Bolluk içindeki yaşamlar, oldu Ruslara zehir
Korkunç bir yıkım ile, İhtişamın başkenti
Kül oldu birdenbire, şimdi sade yıkıntı
O çok gururlu Boyar, adı ile Dimitri
Bu kargaşa içinde, sağ ele geçirildi...
Güneşin doğuşuyla, uzaklardan geldiler
Önündekini yutan, sanki azgın seldiler
Küçücük atlarıyla, ve çarpık bacakları
Söndürmüştü onlarca, çaresiz ocakları
Bu daha başlangıçtı, cesur Moğollar için
Batıya gelmişlerdi, yetmemiş miydi ki Çin...
Bitirirken destanı, geçtim hayat korkusundan
Bir parça mırıldandım, o Moğol Türküsünden:
"-İleri... İleri....
Demir bilekli atlarım...
Gölgeleriniz bütün,
dünyaya korku saçsın..."
Kiev Legend
On the way to Kiev, in a nightfall, foggy,
Shamans of the army, in holy ceremony,
Waiting for Batu; Mongge, noble and brave,
Mongol has come, still sleep Russian Kiev,
A rider murmured, a sensitive Mongol ballad,
Maybe remembered, his tent in the homeland,
He missed greatly, a lot pain in his heart,
Why to kill those men, in this short life...
Then he shrinked, and hit his own face.
Said "You f... man!", and covered his sword.
"Not again will be to question the order."
He cut his face and finished with "not again I swear."
Mongge send delegates, to take the city with no war.
There was no Coward Mihail, to accept just right then.
Dimitri rebuked them, and then their bodies were hanged.
Army went crazy, and angry, Mogolians were made.
After this bad event, faster to the city Batu got.
Shamans told before, the snow was his good luck.
In that last month of year, Mongols were eager enough,
With Batu's arrival, war-drums were played.
What a stately heroic man, Batu, son of Jochi.
And this Kiev for him, just a little toy box...
Russian people, in fear, waiting for the death time.
Listened from many, the cruelty of Mongol riders.
They would be dying because of Dmitri's pride.
A very very painful end, for the innocent people.
But in war time, there is no guilty and guiltless.
Rule over, the strongs, and the losers are weaks.
Trebuchets started to hit the front doors.
And Dimitri started to curse to his unlucky fate.
The doors were wooden, broken easily and fast.
A red(bloody) sunrise was waiting for the next day to come.
The next day, with a rush, riders entered the city.
They made the men firghtened who saw them riding.
Before the nightfall, the whole city was captured.
The luxury lives of past, now poison for Russians.
With an awful demolition, the capital of Luxury,
Was now dirty ash, was now just ruins.
That very proud Boyar, with the name of Dimitri,
Was seized alive, in all that chaos.
With the rise of the sun, they came from the east,
Such as a wild river, taking all the things in front, down.
With their little horses, and their warped legs,
They turned the hopeless houses to ruins and ash.
That was just a start, for the brave Mongolians,
Why did they come to west, was not China enough?
While ending that legend, I got rid of all fears,
And murmured again, from the same Mongol ballad:
"Go ahead, ahead...
My iron-ankled horses,
And your shadow should
Consternate the whole world..."
