Sarmatians seem to have been quite fond of capes, somethign you can't really see with other steppe tribes. probably it could get in the way of archery.

Perhaps it is Greek influence in the Bosporan Kingdom. Tryphon son of Andromenes may be a Sarmatian whose family have adopted Greeks names or a Greek who has adopted Sarmatian cavalry style.
