Can someone introduce me a little? The Epic of Manas was supported by Soviets, though they usually tried to suppress national feelings. Why - did they think, Epic of Manas goes against Islamism and unity of Turkestan (it speaks about wars with other nomad people)? And maybe more important questions - where are the true origins of the story and what was its role in society before Soviets and maybe before Russian empire?
