i actually believe he doesn't wear armour at all. it looks like he's wearing a cap and coat commonly seen with mongol horse archers, like the central figure here: it seems he has some sort of feathers or a similar decoration on his cap too, and you can make out the 'Y' shaped collar typical for nomadic dress, as well as a very large belt.

Yes, he is wearing the coat left over right with the same chain pattern edge along the border that is on the lower hem. The pattern that looks like scale may be embroidery. Didn't the Seljuks wear the coat right over left? The trim around the hat has about 6 circles in it. What could they be? Druzhina Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers

Yes it's clearly a coat and not an armor.
